THE Medway-based Invicta Dynamos ice hockey team need to bounce back immediately from last week's double defeat to keep them in the chasing pack for the English National Premier League title.

Although it's early days, serious challengers are emerging to take the Mos crown in the shape of Milton Keynes, Peterborough Phantoms and Chelmsford Chieftains.

This weekend the Mos go on their travels with away games against Slough Jets and the Chieftains who beat them so comfortably at the Ice Bowl on Sunday.

Captain Phil Chard said: "Last weekend was a disaster. We did not play and were out-worked. Granted it was by a bigger squad, but the performances some of our guys put in were just not acceptable.

"But we're not panicking as we believe this league's still wide open. Milton Keynes and Chelmsford have both drawn and lost a game so everyone's taking points off each other.

"What we do know is that we can't carry on playing like we did last weekend, if we do we might as well pack up now."

The Mos will be looking to be the first side to beat Slough at home in the league after the Jets kept their record intact after coming from behind three times to draw 3-3 with the Chieftains last weekend.

Chard said: "Against Chelmsford on Sunday a couple of us, myself included, were exhausted by the third period. On a plus point we're gradually becoming fitter, but we need at least one other guy as the squad's too short."

The Mos are actively searching for a quality British player, but most have already be signed up by other teams.

The club's English National side the Invicta Mustangs take centre stage at the Ice Bowl on Sunday as they play hosts to Peterborough. Face off is at 5.15pm and adult admission is £4.
