Gillingham are likely to name an unchanged squad for this weekend’s game.

Injuries to captain Doug Loft and right-back Ryan Jackson aren’t deemed serious but do look set to keep them sidelined for the trip to Chesterfield on Saturday.

Loft has an Achilles injury and Jackson pulled up with a groin problem in the recent win over Fleetwood. The Gills are monitoring the pair closely.

First team coach Steve Lovell said: “We are pushing hard to get them fit and make the squad as strong as it can be.

“They are not long term but we don’t want to rush people back. You can get them back too early and then they are out for even longer.”

The Gills made five changes to their team in midweek for the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy clash against Luton.

Defender Harry Lennon impressed, as did Jermaine McGlashan and Emmanuel Osadebe in the second half. Everything is under consideration for the weekend.

Lovell said: “We won’t know our starting XI until most probably Friday or Saturday because there are things we want to look at and work on.”
