Full-back Ryan Jackson gets a buzz from providing assists to his Gillingham team-mates

Teeing up goals for his team-mates is as good a buzz as any for right-back Ryan Jackson.
Rory Donnelly volleyed home a Jackson cross early on at Doncaster last weekend and the 25-year-old was as happy as anyone to see the net ripple.
He said: “My job, first and foremost, is to defend, then secondly to get forward and try and supply crosses into the box.
“Hopefully I can help and get assists for the team.
“The buzz of me scoring this season was good but I get a buzz off setting up goals and putting in good crosses. That is more what I do. It is a good thrill.
“I was pleased to have got the assist and it was a good finish from Rory. It was just a bit disappointing that we didn’t come away with the three points because that is the third time we have given away a two-goal lead.
“It happens and we have to learn from it quickly.”
Jackson started his career as a winger but switched to the right-back role when Justin Edinburgh signed him for Newport.
He became a key member of the Newport side that comfortably adapted to life in the Football League.
Jackson said: “Justin knew me as a winger from my time at Wimbledon but when he implemented wing-backs that suited my style better.
“Playing right-back with the diamond formation here allows me to get forward. It is working quite well for us.”
