Josh Wright is buzzing for his first return to The Valley.

The Gills midfielder hasn’t played a game at Charlton since leaving the club in 2009.

Wright was with the Addicks as a trainee and turned pro with them in 2007, at the age of 17.

He said: “It’s a day that myself and the family are looking forward to but it is all about Gillingham, for me.

“I will take no prisoners, I will be going there to get the three points and hopefully push us to survival.

“I had some fantastic years there and was highly thought of. The way the club went, with sackings and relegation from the Premier League and the Championship, some people might think it helps you with getting a chance in the first team, but it didn’t quite work out for me that way.

“It is still a club close to my heart, I know a lot of people there and I have always looked out for them. I am looking forward to it.”

Gillingham could go above the Addicks with a win but more importantly, victory would all-but make their League 1 status secure.

Wright said: “It just shows how tight it is down there. It gives us another incentive and if we can do that then I believe it will put us safe.

“You would be very unlucky if that (52 points) was not enough.

“We know it wouldn’t be the ending but it would be one foot in League 1 for next season. It is huge and one we all are buzzing for. I can’t wait to get out there.”
