Doug Loft misses Gillingham’s next three games and he has also been disciplined by the club.
A sending off against Scunthorpe United last weekend – for a misjudged challenge – proved costly as 10-man Gills conceded three goals.
Boss Peter Taylor said: “I am disappointed and Doug knows my feelings on that, it was a very poor decision.
“He is going to get disciplined by the club and we’ll leave it at that, I’m not going to say more than that.
“He didn’t help our result on Saturday, no doubt about that. He has a very good record and he has only been sent off twice in his career and he has played a lot of matches so he is not all of a sudden a dirty player but he certainly made a bad decision with the rules of football these days.
“You cannot leave the ground and jump into someone. I think as soon as it happened on Saturday I knew there was going to be a problem.”
