Invicta Dynamos complete their Southern Cup commitments this weekend in preparation for the Play-off Quarter-Finals.

Saturday’s game at Slough Jets is followed by a home meeting with Chelmsford Chieftains on Sunday (5.45pm) in the final fixtures of a competition that has long-been decided, with Streatham taking the title.

It’s left the remaining sides to complete the mini-league cup schedule with only pride to play for but with a play-off weekend against Solent Devils on the horizon, head coach Karl Lennon will expect his men to be fully committed on claiming some results.

He said: “We have no.2 (Jets) and no.3 teams (Chieftains) in the league to play against and they are in the same situation as us as they have play-off games to come.

“All the teams will have a slightly different attitude when it comes to the fixture, we can welcome a couple of players back that we didn’t have this week, we hope, one from suspension and one from injury and might make a difference for us in terms of getting minutes under their belt especially heading into the play-offs.

“We want to win every game, regardless of whether you are playing for something or nothing, we have to show up and play, I love playing big games and against tough teams and this weekend will be no different.”

Chelmsford have had the better of the meetings against the Dynamos this season and there’s an opportunity to score a win over them on Sunday in front of the home Gillingham crowd.

Lennon said: “They have had our number this year in comparison to us having theirs last year and we have to start showing that we can get results against teams like that. Sunday comes as an opportunity for us to do that.

“We know what we are capable of, there is no question about that, it is about executing it and making sure it happens and that has been probably at times been the determining factor, when you look at the league table, a couple of wins here and there and it’s very different, that is just the margins we live in.”

The Mos played their final game of the regular league season in NIHL South Division 1, beating bottom side Milton Keynes Thunder 9-3 last Sunday.

It leaves the Mos fifth in the league table at the end of the regular league season, with mixed feelings from the coach over their campaign.

He said: “Disappointed? Probably yes in terms of league position, I felt that going into the season we had a really strong chance to improve on what we did last year in finishing fourth but the teams around you also improve and recruit well.

“We have had some challenges across the year with injuries and suspensions that have affected the course of our season but ultimately you are where you are, there is no better guidance of a team’s progress than the league table.

“Am I happy that we have got more points than we got last year? Yes, but finishing position? Probably not. Ultimately we move into the part of the season where it doesn’t matter, everyone’s clock is reset and you head into the play-offs with renewed excitement for what that could mean for us.”
