Luke Norris is on course for a speedy recovery.

The Gills striker is ahead of schedule and could be back before Christmas.

Norris has been out since landing awkwardly in Gillingham’s match at Crewe in the middle of October.

Before that he was an ever-present and Gills boss Justin Edinburgh is looking forward to having the player back available.

“He is progressing well,” said Edinburgh.

“We are delighted with his recovery and rehabilitation. Adam Roche (head of sports science and medicine) has worked tirelessly with him and he looks promising.

“We were originally looking at 12 weeks but I am hoping that probably mid-December he could be back in action.”

Norris is the only injury concern for Edinburgh ahead of the table-topping clash with Coventry on Saturday.

The Gills will be without defender Harry Lennon after he was recalled by Charlton on Friday.

Striker Ben Williamson, meanwhile, has joined Cambridge United on loan until January 3.

Cambridge's recently appointed manager Shaun Derry had been a regular at Gills games while out of work.
