Invicta Dynamos coach Karl Lennon hoping to end losing run against Solent Devils as attention returns to NIHL Division 1 South play-off quest

Invicta Dynamos return to league action seeking the wins that will boost their play-off hopes - and ease the pain of double defeat last weekend.
Dynamos suffered back-to-back losses to Chelmsford Chieftains and Streatham Redhawks last week - effectively ending their Southern Cup hopes.
Fifth-placed Mos are back in NIHL South Division 1 action at fourth-placed Solent Devils on Saturday (5pm) before hosting bottom side Milton Keynes Thunder at Planet Ice on Sunday (5.45pm).
Invicta are yet to beat Solent this season and face the extra challenge of performing on the Hampshire club’s small rink.
“It’s a notoriously difficult place to go,” said head coach Karl Lennon.
“One, because the rink is half the size of ours, so it’s a very different environment to play, and, two, they’re a very strong and well-organised side.
“They have to use the rink to their advantage. It’s like an 11-a-side footballer playing on a five-a-side pitch - it’s a completely different game.
“The skills and technique remain the same but there’s much tighter spaces to work with than you’d have on a full-size ice pad.
“We had some good results there last year, so we have to take confidence from that, but this year we’ve had three losses against Solent in various guises.
“They’ve all been tight games, one or two goals in it, so we need to get that first win against them and there’s no better time to do it than this weekend, when it really matters.
“We’re fifth and they’re fourth so there’s pressure on both teams to get a result and this is our last opportunity to take points off them in the regular season.”
Invicta have had the measure of Milton Keynes this term, beating them 7-1 and 13-1 in league meetings before Christmas.
Lennon said: “They’re bottom of the table, and we’ve had had some good results against them.
“We need to get more points on the board but our focus at the moment is Solent on Saturday because that’s the first game.”
