Defender Adedeji Oshilaja's loan spell at Gillingham has come to an end.

Oshilaja has been recalled by parent club Cardiff, Gills boss Justin Edinburgh confirmed on Tuesday morning.

The 22-year-old centre-back has been a key figure alongside John Egan at the heart of the Gills defence having joined at the start of the campaign on a half-season loan.

That deal came to an end after Saturday's 3-0 win over Bradford at Priestfield and while Edinburgh is keen to bring Oshilaja back to the club, no new deal has been agreed at present.

Oshilaja made 14 starts and one substitute appearance for the Gills, who can go top of the table if they avoid defeat at Wigan on Thursday night.

Max Ehmer will continue in defence alongside Egan having started the last couple of games for Edinburgh's men.
