Invicta Dynamos coach Kevin Parrish believes a Streatham Redskins player broke an unwritten rule

Coach Kevin Parrish was in pragmatic mood after the Invicta Dynamos lost 7-4 to the Streatham Redskins on Sunday in a physical match which saw Dynamos’ Harrison Lillis taken to hospital with a broken nose.

Lillis was involved in a second-period clash with the Redskins’ Jack Tarczycki and, after falling to the ice, Lillis received three more punches to the face and was unable to take any further part in the game.

Parrish said: “There is unwritten rule (in ice hockey) that when two players fight, as soon as they drop to the ice it’s finished but the guy (Tarczycki) decided to throw a couple more punches which I wasn’t too happy about.

“But these things happen in ice hockey, tensions are high and adrenaline is high. Harrison is a strong young lad and I’m pretty sure he will be all right for this weekend.”

Sunday was the Dynamos’ first defeat in five meetings with the Redskins this season but, with his side already certain of a second-placed finish in the NIHL South Division 1, Parrish admitted: “I wasn’t too disappointed, they wanted it a bit more than us.”

Dynamos have the chance for quick revenge this Sunday when they meet the Redskins in their final league match of the season at the Silver Blades Ice Rink (5.15pm), ahead of the Southern Cup final against Chelmsford Chieftains the following weekend.
