Kevin Parrish wants Invicta Dynamos players to show self-discipline

Discipline has become a problem at Invicta Dynamos and head coach Kevin Parrish has warned his players they will be axed unless they clean up their act next season.

The Mos finished the 2012-13 season fourth in NIHL South Division 1 before losing to Chelmsford in the play-off semi-finals.

Last week Parrish (pictured) said he was considering his own future at the club and he lifted the lid on why he feels the team under-performed last term.

He said: "If we’d been prepared a little bit better away from the ice, we might have had a better season. Over the past couple of seasons, some guys have taken it upon themselves to have a bit too much fun away from the rink.

"It’s difficult because they’re not professional (players) and they have full-time jobs. You can’t go round making sure the guys are tucked up in bed so they’ve got to be self-disciplined."

Invicta last won the league in 2009-10 but Parrish says the bar has since been raised when it comes to players’ attitudes away from the rink.

He said: "Three or four years ago in this league, you’d have been able to get away with it but you can’t now. Teams like Chelmsford and Isle of Wight are full of fit, young players and I don’t think they’ve done the stuff our boys have done."
