Gillingham’s play-off hopes took a blow at the weekend but Justin Edinburgh isn’t giving up.

A 1-1 draw at home to Doncaster keeps them four points adrift of sixth place in League 1.

“It was a valuable point because we are still just four points off the play-offs and it is still all to play for,” he said.

“We are in a good vein of form, I think we would have taken the home wins rather than the away ones, but that is one defeat in 11 and that is very good. This group of players will only get better for that.

“There are 11 cup finals to go and we will see where it takes us.”

Gillingham’s hopes of gate-crashing the end of season play-offs could hinge on whether they get any joy from their next two games.

Both are away, starting with a trip to leaders Bristol City next weekend before a midweek visit to fellow challengers Chesterfield.

“We have some big games coming up now but ones we should have no fear in and look forward to them very much,” added Edinburgh, whose side have already beaten title chasers Swindon and MK Dons.
