Romney Marsh Rotary Club 10k sees 23 sub-40 minute times and a win for Victoria Park's Sam Humphrey with Medway and Maidstone's Nathan Chapman third

The pancake-flat course on lanes from St Martin’s Field, New Romney produced 23 sub-40 minute times in the Romney Marsh Rotary Club 10k on Sunday, writes Alan Newman.

Sam Humphrey (Victoria Park, 32.40) claimed the £50 first prize from Daniel Bradley (Tonbridge, 33.08).

Nathan Chapman, of Medway & Maidstone, finished third just under a minute off the pace in 33.45.

Well-placed local runners included Daniel Walsh (Istead & Ifield, 37.52), M45 Colin Whitely (Istead & Ifield, 38.10), Adam Cable (Larkfield, 38.30) and Simon Parrin (Dartford Harriers, 39.19).

Hannah Howard, from Eastleigh, took the women’s prize in 37.34 from Sarah Gruber (W40 Sittingbourne Striders, 40.44), Maxine McInulty (W35 Larkfield, 42.58) and Sarah Dand (Istead & Ifield, 44.41).
