Scally starts the search for new manager

PROMOTION remains Gillingham chairman Paul Scally’s aim – and he’s now on the lookout for someone to fulfil that challenge.
Mr Scally expects applications to flood in for the job after he accepted the resignation of manager Ronnie Jepson following a meeting on Sunday morning.
The 3-0 defeat at Southend on Saturday was the final straw for the chairman as his team, which he had tipped to challenge for promotion, slipped to 22nd in League 1.
“We’ve got to find someone now who can turn a team of talented players into a team that can win matches,” said Mr Scally.
Jepson took charge in November 2005, after Neale Cooper left the club, but he was unable to turn Gillingham’s fortunes around despite having an increased budget this season and bringing in a sea of new players.
