I signed a new contract at Sheffield Wednesday in the summer but I wanted to come here to show what I could do.

I have been on the bench a couple of times for them in pre-season and in the cup. They have a good side.

The manager obviously doesn’t think I am quite ready, which is why I have come here, to show that I am ready.

I went on loan earlier in my career, to Bury and Accrington, and I wanted to come back to League 1 and show what I could do at a good level, that’s the plan, then see what happens from then.

I scored my first league goal for Accrington, on loan, and experiences like that make you want to get more. To score infront of a crowd really means something.

Scoring for the under-23s is great but at this level it means jobs, it means points, there are fans and you just want to keep doing it.

I was on the scoresheet last week, at AFC Wimbledon, and that goal came at a good time for the boys.

The boys showed great spirit. We battled, we blocked shots on the line, we ran our socks off and towards the end we had a couple of chances and could have won it.

It set us up well for Charlton last weekend. I have never been at a game with flares on the pitch, an empty packet of crisps maybe, but it was a great atmosphere, from the home fans especially.

The fans were really helping us along and we needed it. It was hard work. We really deserved the win and hopefully we can build on it.

The boys have been really welcoming and I sorted them out with some cakes on Monday, as it was my birthday. I didn’t do anything particularly special though, I’m no party-goer!
