Gillingham’s under-18s are through to the fourth round of the FA Youth Cup.

Mark Moss’ side beat Wigan Athletic’s youth team 2-0 at Priestfield on Monday night.

Ronald Sithole scored both goals for the Gills to send them through to the next round where another home tie awaits. They will face Preston North End in round four.

Kai Garrett struck the woodwork early in the opening half for the Gills after being set-up by Joe Gbode, who has recently been starting for the first team.

Gbode had an effort of his own blocked while Garrett forced the keeper into a good save as the half ended goalless.

Thirteen minutes into the second half the Gills went infront through Sithole, cutting inside after being fed by Hutcheon and finding the top corner with a dipping effort from outside the box.

It was 2-0 with 77 minutes played as Sithole pounced on hesitancy at the back and rounded the Wigan keeper before finishing.

Fourth round opponents Preston beat Rotherham United 6-1 at Deepdale on Friday to make it through with five goals from Brazilian forward Felipe Rodriguez-Gentile.
