Gillingham manager Peter Taylor has instructed his team to use Danny Kedwell as a role model.

Vice-captain Kedwell scored his second goal of the season in the 2-0 win over Yeovil on Saturday and his work-rate delighted Taylor.

He said: “I thought he was outstanding. He just made things that weren’t his and I said to the players, you have to learn from that, because if we get as good as that as a group, then we will win some things that aren’t ours.

“The way Danny Kedwell chased around, he puts them under pressure.We all have to learn from that.”

Taylor still wants Kedwell to do less of other’s work when going forward.

He said: “There are times when we have the ball in good possession in midfield but he then wants to come towards the ball, that’s when I want him to get into the box.”

Kedwell was named by sponsors as the man-of-the-match and was also voted by fans on our kentonline.co.uk website as their star man.

Kedwell helped the Gills claim their first win of the season on Saturday, beating Yeovil 2-0.

“To play MK Dons and Yeovil in the first two matches is not easy,” Taylor said.

“I am happy to have three points and think we deserved it. It wasn’t a fantastic match but it was two teams trying extremely hard not to let the other team in.

“We have had a very good week (having also beaten Yeovil in the Capital One Cup).
