The Shouting Men column with Gillingham striker Brandon Hanlan

I feel like the fans deserve a win now.

We need to give what we can on Saturday and try and come out with all three points.

We definitely have it in us to entertain and also to get the win, it is definitely there.

It was good to watch the game from a different view last Saturday, after starting on the bench. I don’t mind being on the bench but it’s not something I want to do all the time!

We have a big enough squad and it is always going to change, it’s not just going to be the same starting eleven every week. Whenever I do touch the pitch I want to play and do as much as I can, whether that’s for 10 minutes or 60.

I would have loved to have gone on and got a little consolation goal.

It wasn’t a great bus journey home but the mood here is still good, when you are losing you can’t let it affect the dressing room, that just makes coming into football more like a chore.

A good changing room keeps the boys at it, whether you lose or win. When you are winning it is even better.

I would say my time here has gone as expected. In my head I have the mentality of wanting more. I can’t complain because I am playing, but it is up to me to put the ball in the back of the net as a striker.

We haven’t played the best lately but once we settle and get back on it the goals will come. It is about getting the chances and putting them away.

I got one goal on the opening day and I should have had more but they will come. We are just eight games into the season, there are a lot of games to play, hopefully once they come they won’t stop.

From young I have been playing football, playing in little Sunday and Saturday leagues and now it has got real, turning professional.

I started playing youth football at Tulse Hill from young, playing with Elliott List and Regan Charles-Cook, then I went to Waterloo and that is where I left to go to Charlton. From under-15 onwards, I was at Charlton where I did my scholarship and was a pro there for three years before coming here.

At Charlton I didn’t get much time to play, I came on in a couple of league games, but I played more out on loan and feel that I am now more settled and at a club in the same league as Charlton. I just needed the opportunity and hopefully I can take this one and run with it.

My last game for Charlton was against Peterborough, I can’t remember too much about it, only that I was on the bench like I was quite a few times and those games just flowed past.

In the summer there were things around but I felt Gillingham was the most solid option and it was an easier decision for me knowing who the gaffer was and the players already here. It is not too far from where I live and it is a good club to be at in Legaue 1.

I feel like I am getting an opportunity to play for what is a great club and I want to keep showing what I can do.

I am settled and doing what I love to do every day. Every day is an opportunity, every weekend is an opportunity, it is just about how you take it.
