My week didn’t get off to a great start. My car got smashed up after getting nailed by a woman near the Elm Court Garden centre.
I tried to swerve out of her way but she kept coming and ploughed into the side of me.
She hit the passenger side and luckily I had just dropped the missus off at work. The front end was crumpled in and the whole left side needs mending.
The woman’s car, a big Landrover, was barely damaged! It made me miss training on Monday but thankfully I was fine – I don’t need another injury!
I had two months out with an injury and that came at a bad time. I hadn’t really had a run in the team before, ever since I had been here but I started most of the games up until Crewe and we were doing well. I was gutted when the injury came.
I didn’t think it was going to be that serious but when I saw the specialist it was devastating to hear how long I would be out. It was a lot worse than it looked.
I worked hard with the physio Adam Roach and his team. They have all done well and helped me cut the time-scale in half which I was happy with.
Because I had a serious injury on the other ankle before, when I was younger, I knew the whole rehab that comes with an injury like that and it helped.
Also, as much as my ankles cause me aggro, they heal quickly.
I got another knock recently against Bradford, as my stud got caught in the ground and it stuck under their player. Thankfully, it wasn’t serious that time. It was the same side which was completely reconstructed previously.
It was nice to hear the manager’s positive comments when I was out injured.
I have a good relationship with him and he has taken this club forward since the day he joined.
We are moving the right way. We have a good, young side and this year is going to be a good one. If we keep plugging away, we will get our rewards.
There are always setbacks, like last Thursday, but we are young and will learn. Everyone was devastated on the way back from Wigan because it was a game we were comfortable in but that’s football.
