Chatham face another long trek at the weekend – hoping for better rewards than Tuesday night’s 250-mile round-trip.

Just days after making a visit to Norfolk side Dereham in the Ryman League, they face a trip to Suffolk.

Chatham extended their winless run in Division 1 North to six games after the 3-0 loss but boss Kevin Watson is sure things will improve.

He said: “It wasn’t great and whether it was a cup hangover or not I don’t know. I would like to think not.

“Our league position is a concern but it’s not a sprint, it’s a marathon and there is a long way left. I am confident the team will turn it around. We’ve got good players and a good squad."

On Saturday Watson’s men take on Ryman League, Premier Division high-flyers Bury Town in the FA Trophy. Chats will be underdogs, but Watson feels his team have enough to get a result.

He said: “We’ll put pressure on ourselves. We did all right against St Albans in the FA Cup and they were from the same division."

Taylor McDonaugh is suspended this weekend and there are injury concerns over Liam Hickey.
