Chatham Town manager Kevin Watson keen to land former Horsham and Chipstead player Junior Kaffo

Chatham boss Kevin Watson is hoping to sort out a deal for Junior Kaffo after the former Horsham and Chipstead player scored for the Chats in midweek.

Kaffo netted in a 1-1 draw at Woodstock Sports on Wednesday night and Watson liked what he saw – although signing the forward could prove complicated.

Watson said: “He’s somebody we’re looking at but it’s difficult in terms of location. He’s got other commitments but we’ll give him a chance to have a look at us and see what we’re about.

“There are other factors to take into account when you bring a player in. There are a multitude of conditions that need to be right, one being financial, one being location, ability and character.

“He showed a bit of that ability on Wednesday and I also think he could be the right character.”

Chatham will start and finish next season with home games. Watson’s men begin their Ryman League Division 1 North campaign at home to Dereham on August 9, with Needham Market visiting Maidstone Road on the final day, April 25.

Chatham host Folkestone in their next friendly, on Saturday. Brad Potter will miss out with a calf injury.
