Gillingham striker Conor Wilkinson available for Bristol Rovers home game after injury

Conor Wilkinson is back training ahead of Gillingham’s home game against Bristol Rovers.

Wilkinson suffered a knee injury during the Checkatrade Trophy match against Oxford United but has made a quick recovery.

That injury meant he was unavailable for last weekend’s trip to Plymouth.

“Hopefully he will be in contention for Saturday again,” said Gills boss Steve Lovell.

Elsewhere, Bradley Garmston is getting closer to a return but Lovell has plenty of other men fit, meaning selection problems in some areas.

He said: “When you have the likes of Gabriel Zakuani, Jake Hessenthaler and Alex Lacey out of the side, those boys who are in the side have to perform because they are waiting to get back in. That is a healthy position for me.”

Lovell put Elliott List back in the squad last weekend, after resting him for a couple of matches and was delighted with his impact off the bench at Plymouth.

The Gills boss said: “He was like the Elliott List used to be. He did well, he could have scored and was unlucky with the header right at the end.

“It was a good performance but that is something he has got to do on a weekly basis. He works hard in training and will come up trumps for us this year.”

Fellow forward Liam Nash has extended his stay with Leatherhead for another month but is never far away should Lovell want him back.

He said: “Nash is out on loan, he is playing and scoring. I know when I pull him back he will be in a position most probably to go straight in or be on the bench where he can affect the game if needed.

“We have a 24-hour recall on him, which is why I sent him out for another month.”
