Ade Yussuf is back at Chatham two years after leaving for Dagenham & Redbridge.

The striker was released by the Daggers in the summer following their relegation from League 2.

Yussuf was a prolific scorer during his previous spell with Chats, earning himself a move into the Football League and the club are only too happy to give him another chance.

Boss Tony Beckingham said: “Things didn’t work out for him at Dagenham for whatever reason but he’s coming back here looking to reach those levels he was on before.

“He wants to get back to playing regular football, scoring goals and putting himself in the shop window.

“This is where it all started for him and Chatham holds a place in his heart.

“He has taken a step backwards but sometimes you have to do that. If we can help him get back into the Football League then great but the longer we can keep him the better. It’s a win-win situation.”

Yussuf made national headlines after quitting his job at restaurant chain Wagamama to sign for Dagenham, taking a wage cut in the process.

His move back comes with a new career opportunity, working with one of the club sponsors, MAPS Activities. The locally-based company were key to getting the 22-year-old striker back at the club.

MAPS aims to help people with physical and/or learning disabilities to fulfil their potential.
Beckingham said: “He is a level-headed young man for 22 and he’s been a pleasure to deal with.”
