Holcombe Hockey Club’s senior sides picked up another maximum-point haul on Saturday.
The men’s team won their Premier Division match away to Cardiff & Met HC 4-1 while the women’s clinched a 1-0 victory at Bowdon.
Both teams have picked up two wins from two in the opening two weeks of the season.
Tom Russell put Kwan Browne’s Holcombe M1s ahead after 15 minutes away at the Sport Wales National Centre in Cardiff, finishing well after showing great control after Matt Ramshaw’s baseline cross was only half-cleared
It was Ramshaw who added the second on 27 minutes, scoring through the keeper’s legs
A drag-flick from Mubashar Ali made it 3-0 three minutes later.
Holcombe led 3-1 at the halfway stage with Cardiff scoring from a penalty corner on the half-time whistle, a flicked effort beating Holcombe keeper Ollie Payne.
There were no goals in the third quarter but Rohan Bhuhi added a fourth on 66 minutes, lifting it past several players before scoring.
Nick Bandurak’s Holcombe W1s were on the road away to Bowdon and one goal settled their Premier Division fixture.
Mads Newitt hit the post and Olivia Shannon went close for Holcombe but it was goalless at half-time
Shannon claimed her second goal in two games with what turned out to be the winner - but only thanks to a crucial late save from goalkeeper Tilly Woodhead.
The lead was kept intact as Woodhead denied Bowdon after they had a penalty stroke.
Holcombe men and women both play away to Hampstead & Westminster in a double-header this coming Saturday.
