A Gillingham XI went down to a 4-0 defeat in their friendly at Barnet on Tuesday afternoon.
Former Gills boss Martin Allen watched on as his team scored all four goals in the opening half.
Justin Edinburgh was at The Hive for the game and he named 10 first team players in the squad, although he didn’t include any of his regular recent starters.
Barnet took the lead after four minutes with a goal from Wesley Fonguck
Alex Nicholls doubled the lead after 11 minutes from the penalty spot after former Gills player Sam Muggleton was fouled in the box.
Fonguck made it 3-0 midway through the half.
Just before the break Nana Kyei scored a fourth with a deflected free-kick going past young keeper Tom Hadler.
Elliott List came close to pulling a goal back for the Gills, after the break, but his effort on the spin hit the woodwork.
Former Barnet player Mark Byrne also went close.
Edinburgh included the likes of Deji Oshilaja, Rory Donnelly and Emmanuel Osadebe in his team.
Both sides are without a game this Saturday so it was a match of mutual benefit, in terms of fitness, giving fringe players valuable time on the pitch.
