Billy Bingham will be pushing for an immediate return for the Gills this weekend.
The midfielder played a key role in last Saturday’s win over Scunthorpe but missed the midweek defeat at Sunderland with an ankle injury.
Bingham has been limited to just 21 appearances this season because of injury but boss Steve Lovell is confident the latest issue is only minor.
He said: “Billy has swollen his ankle after Saturday and we didn’t want to risk him.
“We could have played him at a push but then there was a chance he would be out for three or four weeks.”
Replacing him in the starting line-up at Sunderland was Darren Oldaker.
“He did all right,” said Lovell. “He started to grow into the game as it went on.
“It was a big night for him, he has just turned 20 and he is a good prospect. It was a good experience for him.”
While Lovell hopes to have Bingham back, he also expects Josh Rees back in training today (Thursday) after injury.
Tahvon Campbell was on the bench at Sunderland but didn’t get on. He has yet to make an appearance since his loan move from Forest Green.
But Lovell believes fellow recent additions Graham Burke and Leo Da Silva Lopes are making a difference.
“They had excellent games,” he said.
“Leo had a bit of a groin (injury) and Graham was shattered, that’s why I subbed them. Otherwise they would have stayed on. They have been brilliant for us.
“We have to take all of the positives now out of the Sunderland game and go to Wycombe on Saturday and perform and play like that again. If we do then we will be fine.”
