Gills fans have been urged to cheer one of Medway’s non-league sides a step closer to championship glory this weekend.
With Justin Edinburgh’s men not in action until Monday, the biggest game in Medway on Saturday is the top-of-the-table clash between Hollands & Blair and Greenwich Borough.
Just one point separates the title rivals in Southern Counties East and victory for Blair would send them top with just five games left.
Blair boss Paul Piggott wants locals to back his boys in numbers at their Star Meadow ground in Darland Avenue, Gillingham.
He said: “I’m hoping we get a big following because that would help massively.
“Those people who normally watch Gillingham, just as a one-off, if they could support our club just for one game and give us some vocal support, it would give our players a massive boost.
“They’ll see some good players at our ground and they might like what they see.”
Blair, promoted from the Kent Invicta League only last season, have stunned the division by scoring 103 goals in just 30 games.
Greenwich were the pre-season title favourites along with Ashford United, who Blair visit on Easter Monday.
Piggott said: “I don’t think anyone would have given us a chance of getting this far, to be playing Greenwich and Ashford over the Easter weekend to have a big say in the title.
“We knew we had a good squad going into the season but I wouldn’t have put any money on us being in the top two at this stage. Having said that, we’ve earned the right to be there."
Kick-off at Star Meadow is 3pm.
