Hollands & Blair manager Paul Piggott says team will push Greenwich Borough all the way in Ryman League promotion race

Hollands & Blair boss Paul Piggott has vowed his team won’t give up the title chase without a fight.

Blair missed out on the chance to go top in Southern Counties East on Saturday after being held to a goalless draw by leaders Greenwich at Star Meadow.

It means Piggott’s men still trail Greenwich by a point with just five games to go. They need to rely on big-spending Greenwich to slip up - and make sure they win their remaining matches, starting with Monday’s trip to Ashford.

“We won’t be giving anything up,” stressed Piggott. “Until someone tells us we can’t do it anymore then we’ll be going for it.

“I don’t have to tell the players that, they’re winners in our dressing room and they know that we are still in the title hunt.

“If they slip up, then we’ll be there. If they don’t, then fair play to them. It was in our hands. We had to win all of our remaining games, if we did that, we won the league.

“We now need them to slip up and one thing’s for sure, we need to keep winning.”

Blair will again be without influential skipper Stuart West on Monday as he serves the second of a two-match suspension for 10 cautions.

“It’s another tough game at Ashford," said Piggott. "They’ve got their off the field problems but they’re a top three side who were in the title race until they had their points taken away.”
