Newly-signed forward Graham Burke impressed on his Gillingham debut at Coventry.
Boss Steve Lovell praised the on-loan Preston forward after naming him in his starting XI.
He was the only one of his five new signings to get a start.
“I thought he was excellent,” said Lovell.
“His composure on the ball, his brain, his mobility. He was excellent, he brings a new dimension to us.
“I am just looking forward to getting on a decent pitch where he can really show us what he can do.”
Burke was in the thick of it throughout at Coventry, playing up top alongside Tom Eaves.
Lovell said: ”Two good chances fell to him in the first half and on another day he might have stuck them in.
"Had he scored it would have marked a brilliant debut.”
Leo Da Silva Lopes and Billy King made their debuts off the bench on Saturday but Tavon Campbell was an unused substitute.
“I can’t wait to work with them this week,” added Lovell.
“It was a tempting to put them all in but you can’t when you don’t know them.
“I know Graham has played a few games in the Championship and he was the one I was going to give a debut to because he had played the most games.
“The rest of them, we will have a look at them in different areas and how we can utilise them but it is great to have them.”
