Gills boss Ady Pennock wasn’t getting carried away with Tuesday night’s result.
His team beat Chatham 12-0 but the Gills head coach was keeping it in perspective.
He said: “It’ a good result but I don’t want to get OTT about it.
“There were some good performances, we knocked the ball around well and the fitness levels were very good again. I am pleased.
“But I am not looking too deep into the final score of any pre-season game, it was just pleasing to get a lot of goals under our belts and it was a really good turnout.

“I said to the lads that if you move the ball quickly and keep the ball in good places and be positive, you will enjoy it and that is what they did, they all enjoyed it. That is what it is all about.
“They have to do things properly. If you have five or six touches against a team like these they will go through you unfortunately. The ball will never get tired, players will. They have shown another fantastic attitude.”
Over 1,000 fans were at Chatham for the match, a turnout that will have helped boost the finances of the Southern Counties East side.
Pennock said: “I am pleased for Chatham Town Football Club, it’s a club close to where I live and I am pleased they have got a few bob for themselves.
“It is important and we want a good relationship. We can help them and they can help us. You never know, they might have a little jewel here and we could lend them players as well to get experience and everything else.
“We have to have a good relationship with all of the Kent clubs.”
