Chatham Town have announced that one of their young prospects is heading to Gillingham for a trial.
Attacking full-back Ike Orji will be hoping to impress the coaches at Priestfield after being invited to train with them at Beechings Cross.
Gillingham have a good relationship with ambitious Chatham, a team who were top of the Southern Counties East Premier Division table before football at that level was curtailed.
Orji has recently progressed into the first team at Chatham and isn't the first to attract interest from the Football League. In December, Championship side Millwall handed Chats youth player Finley Cotton a two-year scholarship deal.
At the time, club chairman Kevin Hake said: "Youth will always will be the lifeblood of this club and we are now achieving great things as the best players around are coming to Chatham Town to work with our coaching set up to further develop their game."
Chats announced the latest news on social media, saying: “Ike Orji has agreed to join neighbours Gillingham for a trial period. Good luck Ike.”
