Chatham are chasing new recruits as their poor run continues but they’re not panicking yet.
The Chats have lost their last four league games and are without a win in nine matches.
It’s a run that has left the Maidstone Road club just two points above the relegation places in Ryman League, Division 1 North.
Up to three new faces could be in the squad in the coming days but last week’s performance against leaders Needham Market, which they lost 2-1, has given them hope.
Assistant boss Peter Hawkins said: “We defended well but are lacking a bit going forward.
“In the second half, we showed great character and energy. We more than matched them and showed we have nothing to fear."
Hawkins added: “We had a chat after the game and Matt Solly spoke up about the character, commitment and effort shown from the lads.
“That’s the baseline we expect – nothing less. We’ve got good players and it’s about getting everyone to play well at the same time.
“We are keeping an eye out for players who will help the squad, that’s our job but we aren’t just going to bring in anyone. We are not going to rush and panic.”
Greg Benbow is likely to miss the trip to Dereham Town on Saturday as he is struggling with a hamstring injury.
