Chatham visit the Ryman League, Division 1 North’s form team this weekend.
Chats venture into Essex to take on a Brightlingsea Regent side who have won their last five league games.
But with two impressive performances behind them, Chatham are confident of upsetting the form book on Saturday.
Assistant boss Peter Hawkins said: “Over the last couple of games our performances have been much better. We just need to start scoring some goals.
“This will be a tough game but if we can keep improving and building on each performance, then we might get a bit of a luck.
“In the last few games, defensively we have looked good. We’ve been much more solid. We’ve not let many goals in and the difference has been pretty slim.”
Chatham beat the Essex side 5-1 earlier in the season. Ade Yusuff, who has since signed for League 2 Dagenham, scored twice in that game.
A 0-0 draw against Waltham Abbey last weekend highlighted where things need improving.
Hawkins said: “Ade got us a lot of goals and we relied on him a bit.
“He has gone into League football and to replace someone of his stature is not easy.”
