Gillingham striker Cody McDonald hopes the team can make amends when they return to Priestfield this week.
McDonald, who scored a late equaliser to claim Gills a 1-1 draw at Rochdale on Saturday, is keen to bounce back against Preston on Tuesday night.
The Gills lost 3-0 at home to Scunthorpe in front of the club’s biggest crowd of the season earlier this month. But it does not get any easier as Preston are fourth in League 1.
McDonald said: “It is going to be a tough game and we have just come off the back of a loss at home but we seem to play well against better teams. Hopefully that’s the case on Tuesday night.
“We are not going to win every game at home and the manager has said we are not the best team in this league. We have to work harder than other teams.
“The fans have been great home and away and obviously it was disappointing last week.
“We do owe them something and it is important we do bounce back. I am sure we will do that.”
