There are unlikely to be many changes for Gillingham at Millwall.

The Gills travel to The Den on Friday night for their final League 1 fixture of 2016.

Consistency in team selection has helped the Gills pick up points more frequently in recent weeks, hanging onto hopes that they can still make a push for the play-offs.

There was just one change for the Boxing Day clash at Peterborough as Scott Wagstaff moved further forward into an attacking role, with Ryan Jackson returning to right-back.

Wagstaff’s performance pleased Gills boss Justin Edinburgh.

He said: “His versatility is a big plus. He has been excellent for us and he has stepped into that Aaron Morris role.

"He has played right-back and wing-back, central midfield and up front. It speaks volumes of the lad that he does put in a shift and performs, wherever he is.

“Waggy was excellent. He was full of energy, full of drive and endeavour.

“We made one change and that is why we are getting consistent performances and results are coming, because we do now have a competitive squad, and we are getting some consistency.

“Frank (Nouble) was unlucky to be left out and drop to the bench. I thought it worked well.”

Jackson was making his first start since the FA Cup defeat at Brackley.

“I thought he did well,” said Edinburgh.

“It’s not easy when you have been out a while, but he defended well. He probably didn’t get forward as much as he would like, but I thought he was good.”
