Greg Cundle hit a late winner for Gillingham’s development team on Tuesday afternoon.
Senior striker Luke Norris was also on target in the 2-1 win over a Bournemouth XI to maintain his impressive form.
The Gills named several first team players in their side for the match at Beechings Cross.
Joe Martin played in a defence that included Leon Legge, there was a welcome return from injury for Aaron Morris while Josh Pritchard, Amine Linganzi and Antonio German also featured.
Gillingham had plenty of chances in the game, with Norris, Legge and Pritchard all going close in the early stages.
Norris, with a goal for the first-team on Saturday and a hat-trick for the reserves the week before, was on the scoresheet again for the Gills. He smashed home an 18 minute opener.
An equaliser on 25 minutes was followed by a good effort from German, which was saved, and a shot from Norris on the rebound that flashed wide.
Linganzi was withdrawn at the break and the Gills again dominated.
German’s 25 yarder was tipped over the bar and Michael Freiter was also denied by the keeper.
Norris had a great chance to add his second, after being put in on goal by German, but blazed the chance over the bar.
It was left to young substitute Cundle to come up with the winner, crashing the ball home from 20 yards.
He almost doubled his tally after beating a defender and breaking clear but the shot hit the side-netting.
