Gillingham manager Steve Evans admits the last thing they need is an FA Cup replay.
His side fought back from a goal down to draw 1-1 with Cheltenham Town on Saturday - a result which puts them into the draw for round two and means they will be heading for a rematch at Whaddon Road.
The replay is likely to be played a week on Tuesday (November 16) which comes three days after Gillingham have had a weekend trip to face Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough.
Gillingham picked up a trio of injuries in the cup game against Cheltenham which adds to the selection problems they are already facing. Mustapha Carayol was missing on Saturday through illness and midfielder Stuart O’Keefe was out with a hamstring injury.
Now Ryan Jackson, Robbie McKenzie and Rhys Bennett are also nursing knocks after a rough fixture at Priestfield in the FA Cup first round. Evans was already missing David Tutonda, Dan Phillips and Alex MacDonald.
Evans said: “I need another fixture like I need another spot on my nose, I already have a couple, I don’t need another.
“We will pick an eleven that we can at Cheltenham but I am not so sure we do have an eleven, but we will pick what we have and fight like we did in the second half on Saturday.”
The FA Cup second round draw takes place on Monday night on ITV after their coverage of Dagenham & Redbridge and Salford City. Gillingham and Cheltenham are ball no.11.
Gillingham have progressed past the first round in the last four seasons.
