Chatham must find a way to stop the leading scorers in the country.
Hastings’ 5-0 rout of Carshalton on Tuesday night took them to 101 goals in just 34 Ryman League, Division 1 South matches.
Victory sent Hastings fifth and struggling Chats face an unenviable task at Pilot Field on Saturday.
They need to stifle the likes of prolific striker Frannie Collin, who started his non-league career at Maidstone Road.
Boss Paul Piggott said: “I’m not Alex Ferguson! We’ve just got to try and set our stall out to defend well and hope we can nick something at the other end.
“The main thing is to be positive going into the game.
“They’re in the same league as us. We know we can go there and get something if we defend properly and attack at the right times.
“They might have an off-day and we might have a good day – you just don’t know.”
Chatham hope to have a new midfielder in place after making a seven-day approach.
He’s likely to go straight into the side as Piggott calls on Chats to go into the game with no fear.
Piggott said: “If you worry too much about other teams, you don’t stand a cat in hell’s chance.
“I couldn’t tell you what the players are thinking but as a management team, we’ve got to approach every game thinking we can get something, otherwise there’s no point being there.
“It’s dangerous trying to sit back for 90 minutes but you have to pick the right times to attack."
