Alex Lacey has ended his search for a new club after agreeing a deal with Notts County.
The defender has been without a club since being released by the Gills at the end of last season.
Lacey spent two seasons with the Gills but the former Yeovil Town man endured a frustrating time.
He had been hampered by injury and the form of players infront of him, limiting the centre-back to 27 league appearances.
The 26-year-old was on trial with Bury at the start of the season but their demise meant he was left looking elsewhere.
On Thursday, after a successful trial with County, they agreed to hand him a deal until the end of the season.
"Hopefully there can be a real resurgence and a step back up to the EFL," he said, after signing.
“I’ve been with the squad for two weeks and I’m not fully there yet."
