Southern Area lightweight champion Adam Dingsdale isn’t worried about the boasts of challenger Michael Devine.
Dingsdale puts his title on the line tomorrow (Saturday) at York Hall with the winner going on to fight for the English belt.
The Luton boxer stoked the fire by boasting to the media that he was the “biggest puncher of the two” but Dingsdale insists he’s already met bigger hitters.
“He can punch but it won’t be as hard as what I’ve already faced,” said the Hoo man.
“If he thinks I’m worried about his power then I’m not. I respect him but I’m not losing any sleep.
“I went in with Derry Mathews, one of the biggest punchers in Britain and I did all right. I beat Floyd Moore and he had KOs from eight of his 10 fights.
“He’ll be putting everything into every shot early on and so he will be dangerous.
“I just need to stick to my boxing and not get involved in a tear-up. I need to be on the ball and will be. I’m feeling sharp.”
Both fighters are going into the bout with similar records, Dingsdale heading to the home of boxing with 12 wins (four KOs) from his 15 fights, while Devine’s card stands at 13 wins (four KOs) from 16 outings.
If might appear like a 50-50 fight but 27-year-old Dingsdale insists it’s his for the taking.
He said: “He’s had more fights than me but I’ve had more stoppages, so I’ve got a higher stoppage percentage.
“It may look 50-50 but he’s been in with nobody. I am a step up for him – he’s not a step up for me. If I box to my full ability, then it’s not 50-50.”
