Two-goal striker Rory Donnelly knows Gillingham need to do better to see out games.

In successive weeks the Gills have blown two-goal leads and Donnelly is as keen as anyone to sort out their problems.

The frontman said: “The boys are really upset that we haven’t pushed on after getting the two-goal lead (at Doncaster).

“That’s the third time this season we have let that slip, so we need to knock that on the head.

“It was the same as last week - we let the two-goal lead slip and we can’t do that. We’ll get back on the training ground this week to try and sort that out.

“I think we need to be more ruthless in front of goal; once we are two goals up we need to push on and try and get a third and see the game out.”

It meant that the 23-year-old endured a bitter-sweet afternoon. His double took his tally this season into double figures.

“Ten goals was my target before Christmas but I didn’t reach it so thankfully I have done it not long after," he said.

“My team-mates are really helping me out and they are supplying me with the balls and I am just putting them in the net."
