Gillingham have bolstered their ranks with the arrival of two new players.
Forward Frank Nouble arrives on a short-term deal while defensive midfielder Chris Herd joins for the remainder of the season.
Nouble has been training with the club for several weeks after spending last season at Chinese side Tianjin Quanjian.
The former Chelsea junior, now 25, also played for West Ham and had a number of loan spells.
He played 13 games for Gillingham and scored five goals in a loan spell in 2011.
Boss Justin Edinburgh said: “It’s no secret that we’ve been looking to bolster our attacking options, but getting the right player is vitally important.
“In Frank, we’ve signed a strong, powerful and determined striker, and we’re delighted to have him on board.”
Australian Herd recently left Perth Glory but has previously been with Aston Villa, making his Premier League debut in their 2-2 draw against Manchester United in November 2010.
He made 42 appearances for Villa during his spell there.
Herd, who has been capped four times by Australia, has had loan spells with Bolton, Wigan and Port Vale. Last season he was on loan at Chesterfield before joining Australian A-League side Perth Glory.
Edinburgh likes the player’s versatility.
He said: “He will be a big boost for us given the relentless nature of the season and I know fans will love his energy and work ethic.
"He brings his Premier League and international experience into the dressing room, which is invaluable."
