Netminder Chris Douglas makes a timely return to Invicta Dynamos’ starting line-up this weekend.
The Mos goalie missed the season run-in with a dislocated shoulder but came off the bench to play the final period on the last game of the regular season - a 10-2 victory over Bracknell Hornets
It’s the opening weekend of the ENIHL Division 1 south play-offs and Douglas is determined to help the Mos gain some silverware.
He said: “The play-offs mean everything to us as it’s our last chance of the season to win some silverware.
“Chelmsford won the league and cup and if they win the play-offs, then they’ll have won everything. We don’t want that to happen. I feel that we are the best-placed team to stop Chelmsford from doing that.”
Douglas is desperate to get back playing again after injury blighted his campaign. He said: “That sort of injury was hard to take when it’s not got anything to do with your fitness.
“I wasn’t expecting to play in the final game but I came in at 6-2 up and there was no pressure. It was against my old team and maybe they went easy on me. They were either being nice or shooting off target.”
A third place finish in the league leaves the Mos facing Cardiff NIHL Devils in the play-off opener.
The opening game of the double-header is in Cardiff on Saturday before the sides meet in Gillingham on Sunday. Face-off at Silver Blade is 5.15pm.
