Invicta Dynamos moved a step closer to the ENIHL play-off finals, beating Cardiff Dragons 4-1 in the first leg of the South semi-final at the Cardiff Arena on Saturday.
Icing without injured pair Lewis Burke and Adam Copland, Damian Welch (work) and Martin Melichercik (suspended), Invicta were superbly served by keeper Joe White as they won for the second time this season in the Wales capital.
"It was a good road win," said head coach Kevin Parrish. "It was important we came away with the victory and we did what is so crucial during the post-season, we put the puck in the net."
Defenceman Ryan Giles was the first visiting player to find the net, on an opening period powerplay. Milan Kostolny scored the second, showing no signs of rust from his three weeks of inactivity due to suspension.
Anthony Lennon made it 3-0 before the second break with another powerplay effort, before Andy Smith wrapped up the win with number four, capitalising on a goalkeeping error.
