Invicta Dynamos face Romford Buccaneers on Saturday and Chelmsford Chieftains at Planet Ice, Gillingham on Sunday in NIHL South Division 1

Invicta Dynamos could be facing one of their former stars this weekend after Juraj Huska’s return from a lengthy suspension.

Huska’s prolific time with the Mos ended after being hit with a hefty two-year suspension - reduced to one with good behaviour - having launched his stick into the crowd.

He’s back playing in NIHL Division 1 this season, now with the Romford Buccaneers, who meet the Dynamos this Saturday. Huska, 42, is the record points scorer for the level, amassing over 300 goals and almost as many assists, adding two more strikes to his tally last weekend on his return to Romford as they routed Oxford City Stars 9-2.

The trip to Essex will be the first of two games for the Mos this weekend, returning to Gillingham on Sunday to face the Chelmsford Chieftains.

Looking to Saturday, head coach Karl Lennon said: “Juraj Huska is back there playing, which is great and I am delighted to see he is back on the ice - he’s a great guy and an absolute machine around the goal.

“I am sure he is champing at the bit to get back into the swing of things. We love Huska, we loved having him around in the past and we wish him only the best for himself and his hockey. It will be good to see him at the weekend.

“We haven’t played that team for a while and they are a bit of an unknown proposition, they have a much younger roster than most in the division and we will see how we go.”

Sunday’s visitors Chelmsford have started their season with comfortable wins over Oxford (6-0) and MK Thunder (11-1) but the Mos should be a bigger test for them this weekend.

Lennon said: “They have had some big wins in their season openers against teams you would expect them to beat heavily, and they did, so they have done their job.

“The good thing for us is that we come in from playing a national team twice (facing Romford Raiders in a pre-season double-header) and having played Streatham and Solent.

“To play a side who hasn’t played a big competitive game yet, let’s see how that works out. Two wins under their belt will give them confidence and they have started well. We have to be really strong against them on Sunday if we want to get something.”

The Mos will be hoping a couple of injuries can be shaken off quickly after a tough opening weekend. Aaron Connolly picked up a thigh/knee problem after a collision and Richard Harris also took a knock, with a collarbone issue.
