Tuesday can’t come soon enough for the Gills.
A heavy defeat at Coventry on Saturday saw Justin Edinburgh’s men knocked off the top of League 1.
They get the chance to make amends tomorrow (Tuesday) with the visit of Rochdale to Priestfield.
Edinburgh said: “We don’t want to be stewing on it. We need to address it and get back to playing games.
“This is a young group, a new group, who have done fantastic.
“We have to move on and recover quickly. You don’t really get chance to have a breather in this league and it is a blessing really that this game is coming around as quickly as it is.
“The players are disappointed and despondent but they are a good group, they are young and they are eager. They are a little naive and that is probably what cost us.”
Gillingham were in the game on Saturday but conceded four goals in a 10-minute spell before half-time.
Edinburgh said: “I am not going to criticise them because it is not through effort or character or determination, it is through a bit of naivety.
“When we have gone behind at home we have come back and won games, but in the last two league away games we haven’t been able to deal with that and it’s something we need to learn from. We will do, and we will be better for it.”
