Justin Edinburgh has been nominated for the Sky Bet League 1 manager-of-the-month award for November.
Gillingham’s only defeat in the league came at Oxford, losing 1-0, in a game where Edinburgh’s side had plenty of chances and several penalty claims turned down.
Some fans had been calling for the manager to go following a tricky spell but results have turned around of late, leaving the Gills just three points adrift of the play-off places ahead of the weekend.
Reacting to the nomination, Edinburgh said: “It’s a funny game isn’t it?”
And he was keen to acknowledge the group of players who have helped to turn their form around.
He said: “It is all about us as a group and we only do that by sticking together. We have shown that we have that in abundance.
“I am pleased for the players, because there have been some tricky times, but it’s a reward for some real consistent performances of late.”
Gillingham's wins came against Northampton, Walsall and Rochdale.
Scunthorpe boss Graham Alexander was also nominated, along with Southend’s Phil Brown and Kevin Nugent, who was caretaker at Charlton before they appointed Karl Robinson.
The winner of the award will be announced on Friday morning.
