Gillingham will be in the market for new additions when the January transfer window opens.
Manager Justin Edinburgh is keen to bolster his squad with a couple of signings as they look to improve their fortunes in the second part of the season.
“We might have to tweak here and there,” said Edinburgh. “We have to be conscious that we could lose a couple of the loans, if not all of them.
“You need to improve and can’t stand still. You always need to move forward and there will be a couple of new faces around the group, I hope.
Edinburgh said it was possible a few could be leaving.
He said: “Maybe a few of the younger players could go and get games. There are plans as we move along.”
The Gills boss and his staff have been keeping tabs on the local scene and Hythe’s prolific striker Alfie May is still interesting them.
League 2 side Doncaster appear to be leading the chase for the 23-year-old, but Edinburgh is keen to see him put on a Gills shirt before they decide whether to bid.
Edinburgh said: “We would like to get him in to play a game. We have had him in training but would like to see him play the way we do. But we are respectful and mindful that Hythe have a busy period as well and he is their top scorer. We have to work along with them.”
Another player to have caught Edinburgh’s eye is VCD Athletic winger Mekhi Leacock-McLeod. He played against the Gills recently in the Kent Senior Cup and Edinburgh wants to take the player in for a closer look.
Edinburgh said: “We made contact but unfortunately he picked up an injury on Saturday so he hasn’t come in yet."
