Changes will be made for Gillingham's EFL Trophy match at Millwall, but boss Justin Edinburgh plans to stick to the rules.
The Gills are unable to make wholesale changes for Tuesday's game and if they do, they risk a £5,000 fine.
Injuries have left the squad threadbare in recent weeks and that means Edinburgh is likely to make as many changes as he can to keep his team fresh for League 1.
He said: “I will put a team out that I feel can go and get a result. We have to abide by the rules, in terms of players who have played in the last game or the most games, but we will abide by it.”
The Gills are unlikely to risk Scott Wagstaff (calf) or Bradley Dack (hamstring). Wagstaff missed out at AFC Wimbledon on Saturday while Dack limped off early on.
Cody McDonald (heel) and Ryan Jackson (hip) are also out with what have been described as short-term injuries.
With transfers not allowed until January, Edinburgh will have to act carefully when selecting his team for a competition that has failed to ignite any passion.
“We are short in areas,” he added. “With the system this year, in terms of going to get loans, at a time you would normally, you are scuppered in that but we knew the rules at the start of the season.
“It has been frustrating but we have to do better.”
