Gills defender Max Ehmer admitted he was at fault for Blackpool’s equaliser on Saturday.
Blackpool levelled early in the second half after midfielder Brad Potts got in behind the Gills centre-back.
The German defender took to Twitter to hold his hands up to his part in the goal.
Ehmer tweeted: “Just watched the goal from today, I was expecting (goalkeeper) Nels to come out and get it but he didn’t so it’s my fault. Should of just cleared it!”
Ryan Jackson ended up diverting Potts’ cross over his own goal-line to level the scores at 1-1. It was the first time Gillingham had let a goal in at home in 351 minutes of football.
Moments after conceding Ehmer made a vital clearance off the line to deny Potts and the Gills then went on to win thanks to Bradley Dack’s late winner.
